Working our Your OWN Salvation

salvation, stretching, work out, yoga

Have you ever stop to really dissect what it means to work out your own salvation? Me either… it was just a cool sounding Bible verse. But sometime last year I got confronted with the plank in my own eyes as I was working with a client.

This client had came to me because she had changed her diet significantly, was already a vegetarian, had done tons of personal development, changed to all natural and organic foods and beauty supplies, but she was still having the weirdest body odor that she couldn’t get rid of. My initial thought was that sounded familiar, but it’s probably nothing.

Well I decided to work with her over the next few weeks and we began with a Zyto Balance scan and I was shocked for what showed up on her results and the causes for her unshakeable body odor.

The areas that needed the most work was her emotional balance. Once I started to dig further down into what was going on with her, she was terrified of what others had to say about her. Once again I was shocked. We are talking about a beautiful girl with the most amazing personality. I would have bet money that she was self confident and happy with who she was and I would have lost, like alot of money.

I asked her to pray and ask Holy Spirit what was the root cause of when she first felt that way and she immediately started crying. We had an extra long session, but as we spoke and helped her cleared up some of her emotional blocks and it was an amazing and interesting experience, we had drilled down to the root cause. The work was just getting started though for her and for me 🙂

How so?

Because I got some clear revelation in the midst of the session working with her. I too was feeling the same way, extra self conscious about other peoples opinion. Paying so much attention to what other people think, say and do, that I was neglecting my true self.

That’s when Holy Spirit reminded me of the verse about working out my OWN salvation.

Phil 2:12: Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

I began to ask more questions of Holy Spirit and started doing my very own emotional release and that’s when it really came to me that I have so many things that are jacked up about me, that I need to focus on me. I needed to run my own race.

Not in a negative, selfish kinda way, but in a way that I’m working the plank out of my own eyes, which means digging down to the very root of the situation. For this reason and so many more, I’m glad for the use of essential oils to help me get more results. I have found that this exercise alone takes up much of my time and really forces me to hone into what Holy Spirit is saying and asking me to do. Where He’s really directing me.

The bottom line is this: as women, we spend so much time picking each other part, criticizing ourselves, cutting ourselves down, that we never really stop to find out what it means to work out our own salvation. My personal revelation of working out your own salvation is that we work out the challenges that have been etched into our character, the issues that have prevented us from being the true beauties and powerhouses that we were called to be. The true, fierce, beautiful, regal Proverbs 31 women that we were created to be.

So my challenge to you is to first stop criticizing your body, your life and everything else about you. And start asking Holy Spirit what is the root cause of why you feel like you are less than in the biggest area of your life that you struggle with. Begin today to work out your own salvation.

In Christ,

Overwhelmed by His Goodness

I am the vine you are the branches, grapevine

I’m sitting here shelling sugar snap peas with our daughter as she throws them at me to open then faster, I can’t help but think how blessed and overwhelmed with His goodness my life has been.

Here I am sitting in a inside a building that has air conditioning, clean running water, a healthy active baby, plenty of food and I just thought wow, Lord you have blessed me life so much, I’m overwhelmed by your goodness to me.

I grew up in a third world country and my mom left the house a few days after I turned five years old…. I still have the memories of her kissing my brother and I as she tearfully told us why she had to leave us, but that God would be taking good care of us and will see that right is done by us. It was a moment that’s been forever etched in my memory.

Fast forward a bit and life got really rough. Somedays we went without food and other days we stole what we could as my dad was would leave us for weeks on end to go be with his mistresses and learn more witchcraft. At one of these points our coal stove which was supposed to only be used outside caught a fire while we feel asleep frying dumpling INSIDE the house. We knew the dangers, but we didn’t know how quickly things could happened, but God saved us both.

I wish I could tell you all the things God has done for me. This blog post would go on for days. But the problem that I ran into was comparison. I compared myself with everyone else and how much I don’t or didn’t have and that took away my contentment to even be alive.

Instead of seeking God’s face, I got to a place where He was my sugar daddy, my Santa Claus and my Easter Bunny. I forgot that He was the vine and I’m one of His branches.

But as I sit here, I look at where I am in my life, how many doors God has opened and how many doors God has shut (yes, I thank God for the closed doors too) I can’t get past the idea that I’m really blessed. My life has purpose. Your life has purpose!

To be in America. To have a husband who truly loves me. To have access to the internet so I can work from home while I watch my baby. Oh my word, to be a mom. To have all my limbs. To have access to healthcare. The list goes on and on.

So friend, what are you thankful for? What are you overwhelmed by His goodness for in your life? I want to challenge you today to pause for a moment and give high praise for what you do have. The blessings that God has blessed you with. The ups and the downs. Friend if you think of all the things that could go wrong that didn’t, that should make you happy right away.

Talk to you soon!

When You Dig a Hole, Dig Two!

You remember that story in the Bible in the book of Esther where Hamon was sick and tired all the Jews, so he made a scheme to get rid of them once and for all?

Well, I’m referencing parts of that story today, cause as you well know if you have read the entire book of Esther, that the gallows that he had intended to hang Mordecai on was the same one he, himself was hung upon. So I believe it’s from this incident that we get the term “when you dig a hole, dig TWO” and that’s certainly the case for me.

The problem is that somedays we get so excited about life that we judge others for their downfalls,  believing it will never happen to us. Can you relate?

Just the other day I spoke with a friend who I look up to. She has really strong faith and so many times I just took it for granted that she had it all figured out and never had moments of doubts in her faith. Then one day out of nowhere she confided in me and explain what was happening and I was floored. I felt so bad…. cause now, I had seen how much I had misjudge this person.

Well wouldn’t you know that the cycle of reaping and sowing is alive and well in every area of our life, whether or not we want to believe it??!! Only a few weeks later, got some news at the hospital that knocked me off my high horse of belief. Literally!

I walked into the hospital with a smile (of course Im pregnant, a miracle in itself)… and walked out with a headache from hell!

You see, just like my friend, I have moments of weakness and disbeliefs and doubts and need to be seen as a human just like everyone else. But instead, the seeds that I had planted and not repented for, were resurfacing in my life rather quickly.

Instead of standing on God’s word for what it is; instead of claiming the promises He made to me in His word, I ran to worry and fret instead. It’s so easy to run back to the ‘ole vomit of our past, which shouldn’t be the case when we have fine dining right in front of us, just waiting for us to sit down and partake.

So in essence, let us be careful how we judge others. Let us be careful of what we say about each other, but more so about ourselves. Most importantly, let’s choose to stand on the promises of Christ our King.

This new year, instead of digging a hole for those you don’t like, dig a hole of blessing for yourself and be sure to dig a second hole to bless others around you.

Happy New Year!

All Things Work Together

That moment when you find out how big a JERK you have been to your Creator. Yep! Had a wakeup call and had to find the floor to repent. For so long I have blamed God for closing certain doors and for taking certain things away from me. Yes I love Jesus, but if I’m going to be honest, I would have to say somedays I question His judgment.

He constantly reminds me that “the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.” Rom 8:28

How many times have we heard this and shook our heads and say yep, everything works out for good, just not for me. That’s where I was.

I recently had a conversation with a complete and total stranger, only to find out that the dreams God has given me for the last several years have been an answer to prayer that I keep slugging on heaven’s door about. Like WOW! Really?! It’s one thing to have a prophetic word and them wonder if it will ever happen or if you screwed it up. But it’s a complete other thing to be talking to someone who is confirming much of what God has spoken to you in your prayer closet and they have NO IDEA how accurate they are.

I’m in tears! How sweet is the love of Jesus to have MERCY on us in our hot-headed moments. How kind of Him to still love and adore us even when we have no grounds to be upset and mad at Him.

I know I might just be talking to myself on this one, but if you can relate then I want you to cry out to God right where you are and apologize. Apologize and forgive God for being a know it all. Yes, when we act as if we know better than what God has for us, that’s how we come off.

He’s not mad at you! And the things that He withhold from you is truly for your good. Lord help us to see things your way and to trust you completely. And thank you for revelation!

Encourage someone today by sharing this message with them.

Pen and Paper Gratitude

Growing up, reading was an escape route for most of the tragedy and unrest that I experienced at those times in my life.

Eventually, the reading turned into some art work which has since morphed into writing. Pen and paper is always good to have no matter where you find yourself.

For me, pen and paper hasn’t just helped me cleared the clutter in my mind, but it’s also saved my sanity in more ways than one. Somehow it causes the creative juices to flow really well and to unveil inner healing.

In our current culture of high speed gadgets, most forgot the simple power of old fashion techniques.

I will be eternally grateful for teachers and mentors who always encouraged me to write things down and today I want to encourage you to do the same.

Write down your prayers, your request and thoughts. Keep a journal of various events that has happened in your life. But most importantly, write down the good things, the doors God has opened in your life. The doors God has shut which didn’t make sense at the time. Write them down. I like to call this pen and paper gratitude.

Jesus reminds us often to dwell on whatever things are good, noble, just, true and of good report to think on these things. This could be extended to the goodness and grace that God has shown you over and over through your life.

God loves to be praised and honored for the good things He has done in our lives. In this journey to finding yourself, it will help to write down where you were and where you currently are. That way, you can always go back to thank God for things that you didn’t even think was possible that He made possible in your life, just because He loves you.

Most people spend their lives comparing themselves to other people, never truly taking the time to find out who they were really created to be. That’s not you, and that’s why I want to encourage you to use pen and paper on this journey as you #findyourself.

What are some things that you are grateful in your life today? Stop over at our Facebook page and join the conversation.

Let God Be Glorified In Your Brokenness

For so long I have been a broken mess. I came out of a broken abusive family. I still have memories in of my dad threatening my mom with a machete right in front of me. I had an abortion that I didn’t know what was happening to me until I woke up on a ice cold steel table, wrapped in bandages.

The list goes on from here to Tim-buk-too. But it wasn’t until I was having dinner with a friend and she was struggling with her own mess, that I realized that God also wanted to be glorified in my mess.

It was crazy!

It was like looking at myself in the mirror a few years back and seeing the struggles she is now facing as the struggles that I dealt with and was still dealing with in my own life.

God created me and He said I was GOOD.

That in and of itself should mean something to me. But somedays we are too wrapped up in what others have to say about us, that we really forget what God says about us. His words are true, final and best of all, they never return to Him VOID.

So tell your story. Share your grief. Share your victory. Because Christ died for all of YOU, not just the good parts and He wants to be glorified in your brokenness as you learn how to find yourself in Him.

Leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts.

I’m expecting!!! Unplanned Blessings

2015 is your year to EXPECT MORE…..

What exactly do I mean by that? How many times have you talked yourself out of your own dream?

Out of your passion?

How many times have you started heading in the direction that you’ve always wanted, only to get picked at by a close friend or relative and you “abort” your dreams, visions and goals?

I don’t know about you, but I can definitely tell you that I’ve done this way more times than I’m willing to recall at the moment and I’m sure you can relate.

When you and I were created, we were designed with passion! Hope! Desire! Goodness! God then turned around and said,

“BAM! You look good!”

So where do we get the idea that we are worthless and that our time has come and gone?

Somewhere along the road, life knocked the wind out of you and it feels like every time you try to get back up, the carpet keeps getting pulled out from under you.

Well this year is different. It needs to be different in your life too. This year you need to get back up, wobbly legs and all, and start expecting goodness and blessings to overtake you.

I honestly can’t count the amount of blessings that has happened to me since I adopted this mindset, from friends and strangers sending me referrals into a business that I was told would fail before it ever started, to being featured on not one but TWO multi-millionaires Facebook page within a few days of each other.

Who does that?

God does! When you start expecting Him to bless you, He has no other choice than to live up to His word. He loves us and He wants the best for us. It doesn’t matter that His best may look very different that yours and my best… He always knows what works.

So do me a huge favor. Start expecting God to bless you. Start expecting God to open supernatural doors on your behalf. Start expecting God to bless you in ways you never thought possible.

If you found this article encouraging, come on over to the most AMAZING community on the face of the planet and tell me, that you are “EXPECTING BLESSINGS” this year with me. Can’t wait to meet you.

To Your Success,
